5 Tips For Using Your New Pellet Grill

Have you recently purchased a pellet grill because you've heard so many things about them, but you're not sure how to use it? A pellet grill is much different than a gas grill, which is why it helps to know a few tips for cooking your food in a new way.

Know That The Pellets Make A Big Difference

What makes a pellet grill unique is that there are different types of wood pellets that can provide different flavors to your foods. It is worth experimenting with different pellets to see how it changes the taste of the food. For example, there are fruitwood pellets that can give food a sweet flavor, and hickory pellets that give food more of a smoky flavor.

Preheat The Grill For Even Grilling

You'll always want to let the pellet grill preheat for several minutes before you start cooking. As tempted as you may be to just throw the meat on the grill quickly because it is using those pellets, a preheated grill is going to provide you with even grilling because the entire grill will be at the same temperature.

Watch The Grill's Temperature

A pellet grill needs those pellets to stay hot, and it's possible that it does start running out in the middle of cooking. Keep an eye on the temperature of the grill to ensure that it is in your desired range. If you see the temperature drop, it's possible that you need to put in more pellets to keep the heat going.

Use A Meat Thermometer

It's a good idea to use a meat thermometer when cooking with a pellet grill, especially the first few times you use it. You may not be used to how the grill cooks the food, and end up accidentally going back to old habits you had with a gas grill. A thermometer is easy to use and marks sure you know how the meat is cooking on the inside.

Clean The Grill After Every Use

You'll want to get into the habit of cleaning the grill after each use, which will keep everything working properly. This includes removing the leftover pellets and the ash that is left behind. Grates should also be cleaned to get rid of any food that is stuck to them. Regular cleaning keeps the pellet grill sanitary and looking good.

With these tips in mind, you'll be ready to start entertaining friends and family with your new pellet grill
